Frequently Asked Questions

What is Naturopathy and what does a Naturopath do?

Naturopathy is the practice of holistic, natural, client-centered healing which focuses on educating the client and restoring balance to the body.  Naturopaths often draw on herbal and nutritional remedies along with diet and lifestyle alterations to help clients achieve their desired state of health. This form of medicine can be used alongside' allopathic' or 'western' medicine approaches to fully support the client and achieve the best possible results.

Why use natural medicine?

Natural medicine is a great way to not only get back in touch with your body but to help restore optimal function. Diet and lifestyle changes are integral to natural health practices as they can help not only overcome health issues but also prevent them from occurring in the first place. Herbs and nutritional supplements are also used to support the body further when needed and are backed by scientific research to support their effectiveness. Unlike prescription medications, these herbs and supplements are less likely to have side effects and work in harmony with your body.

Natural medicine is about restoring a way of life that supports not only your physical health but your emotional, mental, social, environmental and spiritual health as well.

What should I prepare for my initial consultation?

Please bring any recent blood work or relavent test results or scans along with a diet diary of the past week if possible. The most important thing is that you enter the consult with an open mind and an understanding that this is a healing partnership.

What happens if I need to cancel/reschedule my appointment?

We understand that life happens so please call Rachel on 0415 534 012 if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

How much do consults cost and can I get private health or medicare rebates?

Initial consults are $150 for a 1.5 hour consult, return consults are $90 for a 1 hour consult or $70 for 30 minutes. Testing and supplement costs are not included in this price. Unfortunately, Naturopathy is not covered by private health care services or medicare.

What should I expect in an initial consult?

The first consult is about getting to know you and your body. We'll go through your presenting complaint and associated body systems in detail to find the root cause of your 'dis-ease'. Questions will also be asked about personal medical history, family medical history, current diet and lifestyle including sleep, energy levels and psychological health. Some physical assessments may also be done if relevant such as iris analysis, weight, height, waist to hip ratio, blood pressure and, tongue and nail analysis. All of this is done to get a holistic and comprehensive understanding of you and your body.

Why should I see a Naturopath?

Naturopaths can help with general health maintenance whether that means supporting you through a yearly detox program or providing dietary guidance and advice to ensure you are getting the nutrients your body needs for optimal health. Naturopaths can also provide evidenced-based herbal and nutritional support for a number of diseases and illnesses. These include autoimmune conditions, gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS, SIBO, IBD and food intolerances, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, reproductive issues such as infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, irregular periods, painful periods and PMS, weight loss, stress management, sleep issues and low energy.
